According to a representative on the 25th, ADOR’s board of directors resolved to convene a temporary shareholders’ meeting to reappoint Min Hee-jin as an inside director. Earlier, on September 11, ADOR had already proposed to Min Hee-jin that she take charge of producing NewJeans for the next five years, which coincides with the duration of the contract remaining with NewJeans.

However, during today’s board meeting, the directors discussed that they could not accept Min Hee-jin’s request to return as CEO at this time. Since basic guarantees regarding her position as the producing director for NewJeans have already been established, discussions regarding specific conditions are expected to continue.

ADOR has provided detailed responses via email to NewJeans members about the discussions and various inquiries raised during the board meeting.

This situation began with the resignation of former CEO Min Hee-jin. On August 27, ADOR dismissed Min Hee-jin and appointed Kim Joo-young as the new CEO. In response, Min Hee-jin protested, calling it an “unilateral dismissal.” Since then, NewJeans has consistently supported her.

On September 11, NewJeans opened the channel “nwjns” and held a live broadcast titled “What NewJeans Wants to Say”. During this broadcast, the members revealed their grievances about unfair treatment from the agency. They concluded the video by saying, “What we want is the original ADOR with Min Hee-jin leading management and production,” and urged for a wise decision to restore ADOR by September 25. The live video was deleted just three hours after being released, and the account was also closed.

The day after the live broadcast (September 12), the newly appointed CEO Lee Jae-sang stated during a temporary shareholders’ meeting and board meeting that they would “respond according to principles” regarding NewJeans’ live broadcast.

Former CEO Min Hee-jin also did not remain silent. The very next day (September 13), her representative, Macoll Consulting Group, announced, “We have filed a request for a provisional injunction to convene a temporary shareholders’ meeting and to reappoint Adore’s inside directors at the Seoul Central District Court,” indicating a legal dispute and her active efforts to reclaim her position.

HYBE has also started to take action after remaining silent for a while. According to legal sources, HYBE has enlisted a top-tier attorney in preparation for the lawsuit against Min Hee-jin. Having already lost the first lawsuit against her, HYBE has appointed attorney Hong Seung-myeon, a former chief judge of the Seoul High Court, to prepare thoroughly. Although the date for the second round of the HYBE-Min Hee-jin lawsuit has not yet been set, it is expected to take place next month.

The biggest victims of the conflict between HYBE and former CEO Min Hee-jin are the NewJeans members. There is hope for a swift resolution to the adult conflicts so that NewJeans can happily resume their activities.
